Maya Rudolph Replacing M&M’s Spokescandies in Super Bowl Ad

M&M's

Maya Rudolph will be replacing the M&M’s Spokescandies for this year’s Super Bowl ads in the wake of the controversy surrounding the re-designed characters, with the company putting them on “indefinite pause”, according to an official company announcement.

According to the statement issued on Instagram: “America, let’s talk. In the last year, we’ve made some changes to our beloved spokescandies. We weren’t sure if anyone would even notice. And we definitely didn’t think it would break the internet. But now we get it – even a candy’s shoes can be polarizing. Which was the last thing M&M’s wanted since we’re all about bringing people together. Therefore, we have decided to take an indefinite pause from the spokescandies.”

The rebranded M&M’s were revealed in January 2022 and were immediately met with backlash.

Rudolph is ready to take the role for Super Bowl ad season.

“I was already the person that likes to watch the Super Bowl for ads, so I feel like, ‘Wow, now I get to be a part of that moment!'” she said, according to People.
